If any of you have not heard/seen any of Louie Giglio's messages...we HIGHLY recommend them. We recently listened to his DVD about Hope. He used the verses from John 16:33 "In this world you WILL have trouble, but take heart, I have OVERCOME the world." This is why we have hope- even in the midst of these challenging and uncertain times. He is so much Bigger, Mightier, and Able that we can even grasp...more than able to OVERCOME.
There is so much I do not understand but, I am human, not god, and there are things I am totally okay with leaving up to Him. It is not that I don't wrestle and question and wonder why suffering takes place, etc. But His Majesty and Sufficiency far surpass my "capabilities". Hebews 6:19 says, "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us..." An anchor of the soul, hmm, I love that analogy. My emotions/feelings and circumstances can be quite unpredibtable, but in Christ, I have an anchor, a firm foundation that does not uproot in rough waters. Not because I am strong, but because He is. What a vivid reminder to let Him do what He does best and cooperate with Him...not fearing the waves that may or may not overtake us, but resting in the fact that He is greater than the waves..."even the winds and the waves obey Him". He is not surprised at what is happening in our lives, but He is holding us up and taking us through- as my mom often says, "from glory to glory".
Psalm 145:3-21 "Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; and His greatness is unserachable. One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare His mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of Thy majesty, and on Thy wonderful works, I will meditate. And men shall speak of the power of Thine awesome acts; and I will tell of Thy greatness. They shall eagerly utter the memory of Thine abundant goodness, and shall shout joyfully of Thy righteousness. The LORD is gracious and merciful; slow to anger and great in lovingkindness. The LORD is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works. All Thy works shall give thanks to Thee, O LORD, and Thy godly ones shall bless Thee. They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power; to make known of the sons of men Thy mighty acts, and the glory of the majesty of Thy kingdom. They kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Thy dominion endures through all generations. The LORD sustains all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to Thee, and Thou dost give them their food in due time. Thou dost open Thy hand, and dost satisfy the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and kind in all His deeds. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desires of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them. The LORD keeps all who love Him but all the wicked, He will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD; and all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever."
This is the reason for our hope.
