If you haven't read my friend Erin's blog entry entitled "Immeasurable Worth", I have included it below. Please read it first, then keep reading for the "Love Dare" invitation.
Immeasurable Worth
In the twelfth century, the vast wealth of Weinsberg Castle lay in peril. Enemy forces besieged the stone fortress and threatened the riches that lay within. The inhabitants stood no chance of defending themselves against such a great horde, and the opposing forced demanded a full and complete surrender. If the occupants would agree to give up their wealth and the men would give up their lives, the women and children would be spared. After consultation, the women of Weinsberg Castle asked for one provision; they asked to leave with as many possessions as they could carry. If the opposing forces would agree to this one request, the men inside would lay down their arms and hand over the castle's riches. Fully aware of the wealth of riches loaded within the castle, the enemy forces agreed. After all, how much could these women take?
Finally, the castle gates opened, and the sight that emerged elicited tears from even the most calloused soldiers. Every woman carried her husband on her back.
How many of those rescued men were perfect? Not one. But every one of those imperfect men meant more to their wives than anything they owned.
Where is your greatest wealth?

"LOVE DARE" Invitation:
I want to be this kind of wife, don't you?! The woman of my husband's dreams. I have been thinking lately that I don't want other people (especially other women) to treat my husband better and kinder than I do. I want to be the one that treats him the best...who believes in him, trusts him, backs him up...who does not try to change him, but is there for him (spiritually, physically, and emotionally)... who listens and is not quick to correct or interrupt, but shows him respect. I want to be a wife who does not let herself get so stressed and overwhelmed by all the daily demands of life that she has little quality left for her man. I want to do and be these things because I love my husband and want to be a blessing to him...but I want my main motivation to be based on honoring the Lord and living out His best. I want Him to help me be the best wife I can be.
So here is the invitation...In the movie, "Fireproof" they talk about the "Love Dare" (a book of dares to complete to help you become a more loving spouse). You can get a copy of "The Love Dare" at a Family Christian Store and also at Wal-mart and maybe Meijer. On August 1st, I am going to start going through "The Love Dare"and am inviting you ladies to join me. It is 40 Days long and I thought it would be great to hold each other accountable in seeing it through. By starting on August 1st it will be easy to keep track what day we are on. The "Love Dare" is a tool to become more like the wife described in the "Immeasurable Worth" story and mentioned in this entry as well. It is challenging and requires dependence and help from the Lord to complete; letting your selfishness sizzle (and die)! It will take determination, honesty, and commitment to do...honesty and vulnerabitility with God and yourself. It is not for the casual observor. Dive in and see what God will do- in you!
So, shoot me an e-mail or let mw know via this blog if you will be joining me. What have we got to lose (pride, strife, selfishness)? I can surely stand to lose those and more. I am excited to see how God changes us in the process!
P.S. If you have not seen "Fireproof" yet watch it this week.
On with the Adventure,
Kates
