So after weeks of getting creative with canned goods, we decided we needed to splurge just a little and order pizza on Saturday night. We enjoyed delicious oven-baked subs from Domino's and pizza too. It was a small indulgence, but it felt like a party!:) Last night, after lots of packing, the kiddos were falling apart, we decided we needed to have some family quality time and play "Duck duck goose"! Since I had been feeling dizzy I only took one turn "running" around the circle. Kale was hilarious during the game- he would say "Duck" to each of us and then to himself (patting his head) as he walked around the circle.
This morning we woke up to lots of snow (well a lot for Arizona, a few inches) and smiling faces. Brooke is doing a great job practicing the Christmas carols for the children's program at church (unfortunately, she will not be able to be in it, since it is on Christmas Eve), she is working hard to get all the words right. I am sure she will sing some of the songs for her Michigan family and friends with just a little encouragement.
Our dear friends, the Olneys, had us over for dinner Sunday night and spoiled us with presents too. Brooke got a doll that blinks it eyes, and drinks juice when you squeeze her tummy, and then, yes, wets herself! You have to change her diaper then, too funny. We will miss the Olneys a lot. Christie and I get mistaken for sisters all the time, very few people can keep our names straight. Jay, her husband, has been Adam's shooting buddy. They enjoy talking guns and going to manly movies together too. Their daughter, Katie, and Brooke love to dress-up together and be wild and silly. Their son, John, is just a little younger than Kale and they enjoy playing with cars and balls and just being boys together. Their friendship has been such a blessing to us. I think being at their house reminded me of the reality that we are really moving. Some days it just feels surreal, like we are in autopilot. We are taking in the beauty of the mountains and pines more deeply these days, as our time here quickly winds down. Of course we are excited to see dear family and friends very soon, but on this end, we are sad too- to leave this incredible area of the country and a wonderful church, and special friends. Please keep praying for us, as we leave our home here and go forth into all God has for us next. And please pray that we stay healthy in Michigan too! Have a wonderful wintry day.:)
